Tonsilloliths: Treatment Options
If the patient is symptomatic with pain or frequent occurrence, a consult with an otolaryngologist may be indicated to consider a tonsillectomy or laser excision.
If the patient is asymptomatic, they can elect to wait for natural exfoliation of the tonsillar stone.
You may consider a medical consult for the patient to check for possible recurrent causes such as autoimmune issues, GERD, or sleep-related breathing disorders.
