Temporary occlusal splints are a great chairside solution, with a wide range of applications in our practice.

An easy and effective splint that can be customized for each patient is QuickSplint, it fits in the anterior teeth only, from canine to canine just by taking an impression and it sets in a few minutes. This occlusal splint is ideal to be used as a same-day solution when patients come with acute-jaw pain, or orofacial pain, to address and diagnose parafunction and bruxism.

Another great application is when patients need protection from excessive occlusal forces post-op, after endodontic procedures, periodontal surgery, and temporary restorations to recover from treatment and relax muscles.

Enhancing Patient Awareness with QuickSplint

Often, patients are unaware of their grinding habits, despite visible wear on their teeth.

QuickSplint can be used as a diagnostic tool to help patients recognize and understand the cause of their dental attrition.

By having patients wear the QuickSplint overnight, they can gain insights into their clenching or grinding behavior, leading to more informed and impactful discussions about their oral health.

Managing Parafunction and Material Selection

When selecting restorative materials, particularly for crowns on first or second molars, understanding a patient’s parafunctional habits is crucial.

QuickSplint provides a simple way to assess the load a patient places on restorations, allowing for more informed decisions between high-strength ceramics and traditional PFM restorations.

Post-Op Comfort and Healing

QuickSplint is also highly effective as a post-operative appliance following endodontic procedures. By reducing occlusal pressure, QuickSplint significantly alleviates patient discomfort and promotes healing, all without the need to remove the entire occlusal table from the affected tooth.

It can also serve as a pre-operative tool for patients likely to require endodontic treatment, offering pain relief and protection in the lead-up to their procedure.
