If the patient is asymptomatic, no treatment is indicated. Just appropriate documentation in the chart.
If the patient is symptomatic with neck pain, a referral to an Otolaryngologist or ENT may be indicated.
More advanced symptoms such as dizziness, dysphagia, odynophagia (sensation of a foreign object in the throat), headache, and/or syncope could be a sign of Eagle’s Syndrome and referral to an Otolaryngologist would be indicated.
