When Time Is Tight: Fast, Smarter Waterline Safety

By: A-dec

A complementary solution best paired with an A-dec 500 Pro or 300 Pro system, A-dec® Flush Dock is an easy-to-use, portable, and hands-free solution that ensures consistent waterline protocols are maintained, while offering more efficient operatory turnover.

Dentistry is that rare profession where being busy takes on two forms. First, patients are eyeing the clock in the waiting area, nervously balancing time away from their jobs or family responsibilities while trying to fit dental appointments into their hectic daily life. Clinicians, on the other hand, are also busy, treating a steady stream of patients while their staff hurries to clean, disinfect, and make ready each operatory—all with the goal of having patients wait the least amount of time before landing in the dental chair. In dentistry, there’s plenty of “busyness” to spread around.

A-dec’s Flush Dock provides a reliable solution to one of dentistry’s longstanding challenges: preparing operatories for each patient in a way that’s safe, compliant, consistent, and fast—minimizing patient wait times. It completes A-dec’s waterline maintenance solution, enabling consistent flushing and purging while supporting protocol compliance and faster operatory turnover.

“Flush Dock is so simple!,” shared Lucas W. Shapiro, DDS, who recently welcomed the solution into his busy Manhattan, NY, orthodontic practice. “I am surprised this equipment hasn’t been invented before,” he added.

Safety, Security, & Consistency

Designed to make the process of flushing dental waterlines easier, Flush Dock is especially helpful in high turnover clinical environments where every minute counts. It can cut down the time dental staff members need to prepare operatories for new patients. Additionally, Flush Dock can also be used for dental unit waterline purging after applying A-dec ICX Renew® waterline shock treatments.

The system can be used in two ways: as a standalone container, or with an adapter plate that fits conveniently over a sink. Flush Dock offers broad compatibility, featuring slots to hold a wide spectrum of handpiece tubing nuts and ends, as well as A-dec syringes. The Flush Dock lid has four handpiece slots and space for two traditional or one Continental syringe, a feature that allows clinicians and assistants to flush at the same time. When used with A-dec syringes, Flush Dock’s syringe pocket is designed to press and hold down the water button, making syringe flushing quick and easy.

Easy Cleanup, Easy Setup

“Flush Dock makes our systems more simple and more predictable,” Dr. Shapiro said. “Now, when paired with the time flush feature, we don’t need an external timer or multiple people flushing at once. We just place the lines in the Flush Dock and it essentially runs itself. With Flush Dock, the staff can focus on cleaning the chair, sterilizing instruments, writing notes, and setting up for the next patient.”

A hands-free solution that doesn’t require a sink, high volume evacuation (HVE), or cuspidor, Flush Dock delivers the most convenience and efficiency when used with the timed flush feature on A-dec 500 Pro or 300 Pro systems with a clinical integration package. Packages with older A-dec units can also use Flush Dock without timed flush, since all tubings and syringes can still be flushed at once while manually holding the flush toggle, thereby freeing up one hand.

A portable and standalone system, Flush Dock is easy to move from room to room and features a design that’s focused on ease of use and cleanliness. Simple to wash, with a container top that’s easily removed to clean the holder slots, Flush Dock is designed only to touch the bottom of the tubing, and has separators between each line to prevent cross-spray.

“It’s super easy to use,” Dr. Shapiro said. “Now, there is no more guessing and our staff can flush the lines easily. We’re also less likely to forget to flush. I definitely recommend Flush Dock.”
